10 Pesos Mexican Coin from 1980

March 25, 2010

This is my 10 pesos Mexican coin from 1980, made of cupro-nickel, showing in the obverse Miguel Hidalgo's profile and in the reverse the Mexican eagle over a nopal (cactae). There were two versions of this coin, thin flan, 1.6 mm, 1974-77 and the thick flan, 2.3 mm, 1978-85. The value of the coin is estimated between 3 to 4.80 dollars.

March 21, 2010

On the collection I have a french coin, a franc from 1960. Apparently 406 million coins were release on that year, all of them made of nickel. The circulation of this coin stopped when the Euro was adopted in 2002.
